Harrison Manor: A Haunted History, or Ghoulish Gossip?

Harrison Manor stands at the end of the long drive, solitary and imposing. The thunderous sky and heavy rain seems appropriate for the location – some will likely call the weather an unlucky omen, but those with common sense will agree that the weather is simply normal for Essex County. Today marks the reopening of the manor since the disappearance a month and a half ago of American ghost hunters Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej. Fans, family, and other paranormal investigators have been waiting breathlessly for this day, with the hope that it would come with more answers; answers which, expectedly, the police have none of.

Did these two men take the chance to disappear on their own terms? Did they fall victim to the manor’s lake or surrounding bog? Or, is there a more sinister explanation behind the vanishing of the internet’s most notorious ghost hunters?

Death is no stranger to Harrison Manor. If you choose to believe the rumors, then you will already know that many of the manor’s inhabitants never left. There is a cemetery behind the chapel, where most of the Harrison line lie rotting and gone. However, in the last 150 years, more than 10 people have found mysterious ends at the manor – and many claim that they still haunt it to this day.

Who are these ghosts?

There are the sisters, Charlotte and Rebecca Harrison, daughters of the original creator and owner of the manor. Officially, one died of illness and the other of a weak heart; however, stories have passed down from generation to generation that claim the sisters killed the other – one while alive, and the other while already dead.

The doctor’s name and cause of death are long lost to history. His mask, however, is not.

Then, the lovers. Three couples whose roots all began at the manor: a drunk and a dreamer; a poet and a scholar; and, a dancer and a chef. Supposedly, Edward and Eliza disappeared, Diane and Connie died in an accident, and Dawn and Harri in old age; however, rumors tell that two died on the grounds at the hands of ghosts, and four returned when their deals were up.

Lastly, the children: Claire and Alexander Harrison. The sister left to have a career in the United States, while the brother moved to Wales to have a family of his own. However, both disappeared some ten years ago – and many believe that they returned to die at their childhood home.

With the last wrap of police tape removed, Harrison Manor, in all of its foreboding glory, is now open once again. Who will be the next uninformed victims of the estate?
