So since it is western who is doing all the talking. Why don’t you listen to the Asian point of view? You can’t decide on something just by looking at one side. It isn’t “justice”. Western people are just taking advantage of White privileges. Here me out
First of all the tweet talks about Emu and Nene’s costume. The user states that Emu and Nene’s face and costumes are depiction of indigenous tribes. So it is considered as ” culturally insensitive”. So why? According to some tweets made during the wxs event, it was said” colorful palette didn’t deserve to use indigenous outfits because they didn’t understand the hardships and racism that tribes suffered. As a result, wearing the outfit is an insult to the culture”. If that is the case, I guess people aren’t allowed to wear kimonos or hanbok for it has been worn by Japanese and Korean respectively and non-japanese and non-korean people don’t understand the hardships local people suffered. But do Asian people get offended when western wears these costume? No!. So you might ask ” So they don’t get mad at all??” Well we do get mad if someone announced that that outfit is from their culture when it actually isn’t.
Okay so onto the Cosmic Spice MV. It displays Saki and Tsukasa in Eastern ( Middle East I suppose) costume. According to the user, this is orientalism (i.e. Cultural Appropriation) due to “subtle and persistent Eurocentric prejudice against Arab-Islamic people and their culture. “So it is really sad that we aren’t allow to admire Arabian costumes anymore for they are culturally insensitive.😔
The user also talked about the costume designer. So, can you at least leave Japanese people out of this issue??? They don’t even know orientalism not because they are ignorant but because it doesn’t exist in Asian country in general as far as I know.
And another, sadly , if you wear colored Bandanas, you will be canceled.😔 Apparently Colored Bandanas represent gangs so it shouldn’t have been used in Hip Pop. ( Monthly Pass costume design runner up). Yeah…so guess colored Bandanas exists only in gangs and not in others cultures.
So another thing is that, I saw a Thai Buddhist getting offended for using Buddha image in Cup Noodle MV. As a Buddhist myself , I could understand this. However, remember even in Buddhism, we have Theravara and Mahayana. So cultures with different Buddhism have different view points. In our country, it is a problem if you depict Buddha Images outside of religious area but it doesn’t mean like Japan should follow our example. They even had an anime called Saint Young Man and no one got offended. So do we have the rights to get mad for the Buddha Bar ( depicting Buddha with Alcohol how nice??? Not drinking Alcohol is one vow in our religion) in NYC ??? You guys have no problem with that right???
Another factor that wasn’t included in the tweet was blackwashing. It isn’t really relevant to prsk. But according to the westerners , it is fine to give black skin to a white/ Asian Character but when you draw a black character with slightly light tone, you will be called out for being a racist. Oops look who is actual racist now.
So Overall I would like for everyone to notice that every culture has different view points and one bad thing in a certain culture doesn’t mean it is bad in the other. So please stop imposing your values on other cultures. As an Asian, I am sad to see our culture being denied for it doesn’t satisfy the western political correctness.
Colorful palette admins made an apology in a professional way yet if you guys aren’t satisfied for not having enough representation, why not create a game yourself that is similar to prsk but with your ” political correctness”. (I bet you can’t)
Please notify me if there is any mistake in what I made. But I will not tolerate the white privileges and its advantage.
