President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris have announced through the United States Department Of State the willingness to suspend visa entry requirements for citizens of Ukraine, Belarus and Russian federation who may be at risk in their home country due to their opposition to Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine. This came after Congress unanimously voted to halt the deportation of Ukrainians from U.S soil as well as citizens of the Republic of Belarus and Russian Federation who may otherwise be at risk by returning to their country of origin. According to the Washington post, VP Kamala Harris is quoted as saying “The United States has always been a country of immigrants and all those fleeing persecution from autocratic regimes and we will always stand ready to defend freedom and liberties of all humans regardless of country of origin.
