Though it has been more than 200 years since astrophysics formally began, what we knew is just a drop. .Until today that C.Tzamos, a 25 years old undergraduate student of Physics made the impossible possible. Although he is still an undergraduate student, he managed to successfully solve one of the unsolved astrophysics problems. The so-called Hawking Radiation!
The Hawking radiation is electromagnetic radiation that is predicted to be released by black holes due to quantum events near the event horizon. It is important to recall that for all discovered and localized black holes, this effect is too small to be measured under experimentally achievable conditions. Because of that, Hawking radiation had not been detected yet.
In early January 2022, C.Tzamos thought that a laboratory-created body, simulating a white hole’s event horizon radiated an optical analog to Hawking radiation, which in March 2022, C.Tzamos succeeded to prove the Hawking radiation and for that he is awarded with a Physics Nobel Prize!
When the young Physics genius was asked how he feels about it, he answered
“Universe is a vast ocean of knowledge that lays undiscovered before us, but making one step at a time is all what it takes to reach the knowledge ”
The Nobel prize awards will be held at 15/04/2022
