College Board Cheating Scandal – All 2021/2022 Scores at Risk

College Board, the organization responsible for creating college entrance exams such as the ACT and SAT, has announced Thursday night that many exam scores are at risk due to a massive cheating scandal that was discovered when comparing scores from Fall 2021 to scores from Spring 2022.
Eleanor Roosevelt High School, located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, seems to be the starting point for the cheating scandal when College Board Official graders noticed similar scores across the school for both the SAT and ACT these past 2 testing seasons. Principal Dimitri Saliani, 47, is thought to be responsible for the cheating allegations. When asked to speak on the matter, he refused.
College Board worries that this scandal goes beyond just the New York City school system. College Board CEO David Coleman has a lot to say on the matter. “In the age of social media, you don’t know who is sharing specific information and who has access to it. We are concerned that what happened in New York could have been happening in other major cities.”
In regards to these concerns, Coleman and College Board have made a decision this past Thursday night. “It is much safer and more efficient for College Board to eliminate all scores from these past 2 testing seasons,” says Coleman “Though this is a major loss for some soon to be high school graduates, it is a direct violation of what College Board represents. We cannot lose the trustful relationships we have with some of the top Universities in the Nation, so we must pull all scores.”
College Board states that scores from September 2021 all the way until March 2022 will be erased. It is unclear what will happen to college applicants and commits, but it can be assumed that scholarship will be lost and exams may have to be retaken.
