Two nights ago zookeeper Jason Leopold went out at night to check on the animals. He walked by the lion den and noticed something very wrong, he saw a hole on the side of the lion enclosure. He of course panicked and called all zookeepers at the zoo to come to the Lion’s den immediately. They searched all over the zoo praying they would find the lion but what they found was much scarier. A hole in the fence, just big enough for the lion to get through. They then called 911 explaining what had happened and animal control and the police showed up to the scene. Jason was freaking out saying how he was new and he did not want to be fired from his dream job. Police reassured him that they would find the lion and are still searching for it somewhere in Houston today. At a recent press conference the president and CEO of the Houston Zoo Lee Ehmke said that they will not stop until they find the missing lion. So if you are on a walk this morning and see a lion call the police immediately please and they will send over people to safely bring back the escaped lion to the Houston Zoo. Until then, you better watch out for the ferocious kitty!
