Enoch Godongwana has announced that from today, South Africans are only allowed to transfer money out of the country to Russia. All other foreign transactions will be stopped with immediate effect. This is after late-night talks between Cyril Ramaphosa and Vladimir Putin, with Russia looking desperately for trade partners while the current sanctions with the West are in place. Cyril Ramaphosa has commented that this is a good time for South Africa to support Russia, given the support over the years that Russia has given to South Africa, especially during the Apartheids era.
