This past Sunday, April 3, 2022, a recently promoted soldier in the New York Army National Guard, SPC Miriam Lefkowitz, was caught acting suspiciously. While in orders, she was supposed to be with her squad prepping for an upcoming mission, she was seen by an officer exchanging a bag for money with a passerby. The passerby jumped into a vehicle with tinted windows and sped off when he saw the officer. Lefkowitz then went to her own vehicle and left early, claiming to have a family emergency. Her phone has been shut off the and her commander and sergeants were unable to contact her for questioning. When they finally got ahold of her earlier today, she claimed her phone broke.
