For many years people have been repeating the same message, passing it on from generation to generation;
T-shirt’s are called “T” shirts, due to the shape of the garment.
But who invented the name? Where lies the origin? The US? Canada? England perhaps?
If we knew where the word originally comes from, we might just understand the actual meaning. So what’s the answer? Ayr….
Ayr is a small village in Schotland.
This village is where the “T” originates from. The “T” s actually and abbreviation of the word “trui” which actually means “Warmth”, as the garment was invented to wear under sweaters, cardigans and hooded pullovers. So the next time you shop at Primark.. ask for the Trui section.
(Disclaimer: This probably only works in Schotland.)
