Brisbane couple ditch SEQ wedding scene to elope in Tuscany

A young Brisbane man, Ben Weeks (30) and his fiance Monique Quirk (29) of the Gold Coast have decided enough’s enough, sick and tired of the overpriced and underwhelming South East Queensland wedding scene. The pressures of planning a huge wedding with all their friends and family have broken their spirits and passion for their special day, instead they’ve decided to downscale entirely; in a huge way! The couple have decided to mix it up completely, opting to get married in the rolling hills of the Tuscany wine country next June during the summer holiday season in Italy.
When questioned about the decision, the couple quoted “the pressures and expense of finding the right venue, date and not the mention the guest list, all for a huge price at substandard quality – whats the point!”. The couple are both professional engineers in fast-paced careers and are very excited to enjoying the celebration and the subsequent honeymoon throughout European landscape.
Being most valued to them, Monique and Ben are working through the process of informing their closest family and friends about their plans for a small, intimate service and reception on a vineyard estate. Coming as a shock decision, Channel 33 news asked the couple to comment on the reception from family and friends so far, stating “Generally, everyone has been very excited and supportive. People appear to be excited to travel having been isolated with COVID for the last few years!”. The couple are geniunely excited in planning their special day the adventure!
