As of June 15, 2022, Joe Biden has officially issued a law stating children and teens with “stinky upper lips” cannot purchase or use items such as batteries, gaming consoles, or electronic devices. Purchasing these devices can result in a fine up to $500 for parents and teens.
This law was passed to encourage youth to continue to practice good hygiene even during the summer months where they are out of school.
Often times in the summer teens and children no longer put effort into appearances and hygiene. Modern technology is a must in today’s society and is often a good motivator for encouragement and the President has met with senators and lawmakers to create this law.
“We hope,” President Biden said in an interview on June 20, “This law will help remind the younger generation to practice good hygiene even when they’re out of school. Kids these days are always on their devices and taking them away can help remind kids of what’s really important.”
The law has taken effect officially as of June 17, 2022.
A US Senator has also given a statement, saying, “My kids are in their own worlds with this stuff. Even if I don’t buy their batteries, they can just go out and get them on their own. We hope this law will help keep them from being able to do that until they’re ‘clean.’”
