As of July 1, 2022 new laws passed in Montgomery county, Maryland. New checkpoints will be popping up weekly around the county and teens who are stopped and caught drinking under age will be serving up to 5 years in prison, along with the possibility of a suspended license for up to 8 years if given a DUI. Consequences will be enforced on anyone under the age of 21, but will be strictly enforced on anyone under the age of 18. Furthermore, teens caught with a fake ID while trying to purchase alcohol or already in possession of alcohol will be detained at the store of attempted purchase until police arrive or arrested immediately and will be charged with a felony.
