Why Electricity is so Dangerous: DEES

St. Louis MO – It’s best to stay away from those downed power lines, and not only due to the immediate hazard of electrocution. Mayo Clinic is starting to explore the connection they’ve seen between similar symptoms of individuals who’ve had “near misses” with high voltage electrical. Some of the symptoms are often experienced with other conditions, such as fatigue, dizziness, and tingling of the extremities. How ever, what sets these individuals apart is, quite literally, shocking. These individuals are transmitting electricity to other individuals. These are your run-of-the-mill standard electric poke you may experience in the dry months, these are occurring at such high voltages that burns and tissue damage is being experienced by the individual receiving the shock. The individual who is causing this transmission remains unaffected. There is still much to be understood about this condition but in the early phases of learning about this phenomenon they have termed it ‘Dormant Electrical Energy Syndrome’ or DEES. Currently researches are unsure the prevalence or treatment for this condition, just that it is experienced by individuals who were in very close proximity to high voltage but didn’t experience any of the immediate damage that occurs with electric shock. They are hoping to begin clinical trials on affected individuals in the next few months.
