On August 23rd, 2022, Yang expressed his feelings for the direction that Warner Bros. (-$31.04) is heading to will be beneficial by 2025.
Yang has recently changed his plans about the company’s future and here are the changes
– WB Max’s absorbing of Discovery+ plans will cease… for now.
Yang has recently stated in a press conference that it’s best to put “the best of both worlds” aside as a mega merger of the two happening needs to be planned and evaluated carefully,
“For Warner, you have many and many talents about dramas, romance, superheroes and for Discovery is the nature, the lifestyles and the views of everything going around us. I think it’s best we keep two categories into piece by piece for now until we can figure something out.”
– Previous regime concerns
“As we try to fix what was a mess of the previous incarnation that was WarnerMedia, we realized that the last just had a lot of money to play with and since AT&T no longer owns us, we have less of the revenue that a lot of projects that were ambitious that we can handle.”
Yang and his board decided that a cost cutting measure should initiate so the company can remain in financial stability — however, this includes some sacrifices.
On July 24th, 2022, WB Max started a overhaul of their content. Mostly through the acquired content not 100% owned by the company.
Content such as The Prince, Pickle, 12 Dates of Christmas, 4 Blocks, Expecting Amy, The Dog House UK, Fboy Island, Heaven’s Gate, Let Them All Talk and There is No “I” in Threesome has been removed from the service and moved to other platforms such as Hulu, Amazon Prime and Peacock to save up between $450 million to $1 billion in costs.
For the Discovery side, the cleanup process will be picky as select titles will be removed and moved to other places.
Yang has ensured that this will not affect any more titles from both services and only the ones that he thinks “is best suited elsewhere”
However some controversy arisen against Yang that “his bias only wants things that he thinks is good enough for the service”.
– TNETs
Yang stated months prior that after resuming the scripted side of things for TBS, TruTV and TNT that they will continue to prioritize the content — however, he wants the channels to focus more on AEW, Max acquisitions and WBTV shows as he thinks WB Max sort of filled the hole.
Aside from a few more announcements in September, Yang is hinting on “great things coming” in the October event.
However he wants Infinity Train GONE forever as he plans to purchase Disney for $100,000,000 and wants a animation of Mickey making fun of the audience with Zaslav.
KeemStar will also become a head executive officer of Warner Bros.
