Wrestling star Sellene Chu died in a hospital when receiving treatment for her tumor at the age of 30. Chu won the NXT Women’s Championship 3 times, and was a 1 time tag team champion with her partner, Io Shirai (known as Iyo Sky). Born Cailin “Sellene” Era Chu on April 23, 1992. On March 22, 2022, she announced her retirement from WWE due to her brain tumor worsening. Her condition was checked by Memorial Ketterling in New York, but they did nothing for her. She struggled with brain tumor before her retirement, and she would have headaches after her matches. “On July 31, 2022, we announce that our great sister, Sellene, died in the hospital this morning, 3:03am PST. Sellene struggled with brain tumor for the past 8 months, and she had headaches whenever she is done with her matches in WWE. She is now with our Lord Jesus Christ.” her nephew added.
Many WWE superstars were shocked and saddened to learn about the passing of Sellene. WWE star Sasha Banks paid tribute by tweeting how “Sellene was a great friend to the WWE universe.”
“She was a great superstar, a great friend, and a awesome person to the WWE universe. Rest easy Sellene. We’ll miss you.” – Sasha Banks added.
Raquel Rodriguez also posted about Sellene, telling Twitter about how she was a great influence to her.

WWE commemorator Michael Cole also tweeted about Sellene, on how he and Sellene met.
“Sellene was a very great lady I ever met. She would tell me her stories, and her life. When I woke up in my hotel room to hear that she passed away, my heart dropped. Sellene, we will always remember you from our hearts, and we love you always. Rest in Peace, Sellene Chu. 1992-2022.”
