Nate Mimpiya was lured to a field in Westpark, Irvine and was stabbed twice on January 2, 2023.

3 teenagers aged 14 and 15, have been charged for his murder and 2 stand trial today.

Registered nurse (insert name) has been called into the witness stand to tell her version of the events that occurred monday afternoon on the second of January.

She says she was walking her dog at just after 3:40 PM when 2 boys on electric bikes “zoomed” past her near the gardens of Bill Barber.

Shortly after this she says that she heard a lot of shouting coming from near the picnic shelter at Bill Barber park.

“I heard yelling, I looked over and saw a group of youngsters having an altercation”

Mrs (insert) described a confrontation going on and a boy swearing and gesticulating, whom she later identified as Nate Mimpiya.

She says that it was more of Nate’s shouting that drew her attention to the fight. Mrs (insert name) says that he was shouting, swearing, and throwing gestures towards the boys.

She describes Nate screaming words such as “you bums, your bastards”, and looked to be extremely angry at the boys.

When asked if there was anything else he had said, Ms (insert name) responds “Well there was a whole lot of shouting so I couldn’t quite make everything out.”

She states that she heard Nate at one point of the argument yell something like “filthy motherf******” which she says sounded very loud.

Mr (Insert name) who is an attorney for Boy 2 asks “Does this evidence suggest that Nate was the aggresive one in this situation?”

“He wasn’t being aggresive, he was just simply responding to what was going on around him.” Mrs (insert name) hits back.

(Insert name) then states “I saw one boy who was dressed in all grey throw a right hook that connected with Nate’s face which pushed it to the right”

She also says that it caused Nate to have a grimace and she saw him retaliate by throwing two more punches that looked like a jab and uppercut.

“They were both really going at it. It looked like a good fight. It was two young boys swinging at each other and having a fair fight.”

She estimates that she saw around 5-6 punches being thrown.

Mrs (insert name) then says words followed and everybody disappeared and that was the end of it.

“I thought they had resolved the issue, and everyone had just left” She states that her intention was to “carry on with my walk”

She says she saw Nate and another boy walking towards the field and described Nathan as “stumbling” and “staggering”.

Mrs (insert name) described Nate as “disoriented” and says he hadn’t yet realized he’d been stabbed.

When she approached the boys to offer assistance she asked the boy Nate was with if he had been taking any drugs or having any drink, to which he responded “No”.

(Insert name) confirms that Nate wasn’t saying anything understandable at this time.

She noticed that he was having a difficulty breathing with his hand near his chest, and was so disoriented that he had even bumped into her.

Mrs (insert name) tells the jury that she noticed blood on Nate’s waist and arm sleeve and spotted it coming from his chest followed by a “sucking sound” which indicated that he had sustained a sucking chest wound, which she says meant air wasn’t getting into Nate’s lungs.

“I tried lending a hand but he refused to accept my help.”

Nate was “floundering about” and “tried walking away but his body began to go under shock.” says the registered nurse.

Mrs (insert name) tells the court that he had mumbled something and then collapsed to the ground and she instantly began performing CPR as she immediately knew that Nate was in cardiac arrest.

She also states that she noticed a “sizeable wound” on the left of his chest which had a serious amount of blood flowing out of it.

(Insert name) decribes Nate as unconscious with blood coming out of his mouth.

(Insert name) says she had performed CPR for about 10-13 minutes before the medical team had reached the scene.

She had the boy that was next to Nate call 911 at around 3:52pm and surveillance picks up footage of Nate’s father running toward the scene at 3:56pm.

When paramedics arrived at the scene, they were directed towards the place of where Nate was being resuscitated.

Nate was described as unresponsive and not breathing when paramedics arrived.

The jury hears that Mrs (insert name) did not know there was a back wound at the time which paramedics discovered, the court also hears that considering the severity of his injuries, the amount of blood loss sustained was “very very life threatening.”

Nate Mimpiya was found dying from his wounds at Bill Barber fields and had an emergency surgery performed on him at the back of the ambulance.

Officials say that the medical team worked and fought for his life for a total of 20 minutes before beginning emergency surgery.

Unfortunately, Nate would not recover and it was decided that treatment would stop.

Paramedics officially pronounced him dead at 5:02pm on January 2. He was aged 14.
