Olin College nationally recognized for Soup Season

Olin College began its exploration of soup last year when Chef Sam Eldridge asked the community for their ideas for soups to be served in the dining hall. Now, Sam’s “Soup Season” has become an international TikTok sensation and was just shortlisted for the 42nd Annual College Dining Hall Soup Awards.

“It’s really just an incredible moment for college soup appreciation,” Englebart Dingledorf, executive chair of the College Dining Hall Soup Recommendations Committee, said of Olin’s recognition for these prestigious honor. “At Olin, soup season has become a frequently referenced inside joke, and we love to see that.”

Some of the soups that led specifically to this recognition include:
1) Turkey 3 Bean Chili
2) Curried Cauliflower Coconut Bisque
3) Chef Sam’s Creamy Butternut Squash Bisque
4) Beef and Bean Chili with Roasted Peppers

The 42nd Annual College Dining Hall Soup Awards will be broadcast on CorncobTV on November 19, and a watch party will be hosted in the library that evening. Light refreshments in the form of tiny soups will be served.
