RANCHI: The district administration blocked internet services in industrial town Ranchi, 100km from here, following communal clashes during Ramnavami celebrations on 15 th october Prohibitory orders were imposed in four police station areas — Maraphari, Balidih, Sector-IV and City – to check a further decline in the law and order.
Ranchi SP Y S Ramesh said the internet services would remain blocked till the situation normalizes. “The anti-social elements use social media as instrument to spread hatred and fear. It is part of a precautionary measure,” he said.
Dozens of people, including cops, were injured in the violence in Siwandih area close to National Highway 23 in Ranchi. The mob damaged many vehicles, including those belonging to police besides setting ablaze three trucks and a car.
