The Pittsburg Police Department announced Friday that an investigation has led to an arrest of a Pittsburg man involved in homemade illegal gun manufacturing.
According to police, the firearms were made using 3D printers and other tools.
For the past several months, Detectives have been investigating 18-year-old Adiel Cardona (Pittsburg) concerning illegal firearms manufacturing.
The investigation revealed Cardona was in possession of several operable firearms that were not registered with the California Department of Justice (DOJ). This included a rifle that according to the California Penal Code met the definition of an “assault weapon.”
The search of Cardona’s residence revealed containers of various calibers of ammunition, 3D printers used to aid in the manufacture of firearms, 3D printing supplies, two semi-automatic rifles, 30-round magazines, and various parts or tools used to manufacture weapons – including the firearms pictured.
Cardona was arrested early Friday Morning and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for illegal possession of an assault weapon, manufacturing an assault weapon, and various other firearm charges.
No other information was released.
