Athens Police have charged an 18-year-old in a deadly shooting.Police say they were called to Walthall Street Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. after a report of gunshots in the area.
Police officers say they found the victim, 21-year-old Zayvion Williams of oak park , lying in the grass next to the union park basketball courts.
Chicago Fire Department and AMR Emergency Medical personnel arrived and rendered aid, Williams is now in critical condition.
Officers worked through the night, and as a result of their investigation they identified the suspect as 14-year-old Davion smith of Chicago.
Davion smith has been charged with second degree murder. He is being held on a $100,000 bond at cook County Jail.
investigation is underway. Witnesses state there was an argument within the suspect and multiple people.
