After ITV recently changed the time for the EFL highlight show many fans have complained saying “it’s unrealistic to ask fans after a potentially long day out at the football to get home and wait until nearly 11pm to watch the weekends EFL roundup. The fans remarks haven’t gone unnoticed by ITV’s managing director Kevin Lygo who also changed the timings for popular soaps Emmerdale and Coronation street stated “As viewing habits rapidly change, live audiences to our national and international news now take priority. This however didn’t please the EFL, and EFL chairman Rick Parry stated in a public announcement and 12:00 noon before all EFL kick-off’s: today the EFL board have decided that it is beneficial to all football fans wanting to catch up with EFL action that we remove ITV’s licence for the highlight show. The final show will be shown on Wednesday the 1st of march 2023 at 10:30pm and then the licence will be handed back to quest where the starting time for the show will change to 21:30.”
