UPDATE: Canadian teen in Police Custody after drive-by shooting

More information has came out. If you have not read the last article on this topic, here is an exact summary: “The details have been revealed. 13-year-old Nathan Palumbo from Burlington, Ontario, had an idea of making a drill rap-style music video for his newest song release “Iris Boppin”. The song contained elements of seeking revenge on his so-called biggest enemy, 14 year old Iris Bruv from Vaughan, Ontario. The two had been talking on Snapchat for a while, and later Iris blocked Nathan and threatened to put Toronto street gang “EBK” on him. Seeking revenge and popularity, he made a diss track on Iris and EBK. To simulate what he would do to them if he ever saw them, he took his dad’s Glock 17 from his unlocked safe and fired 7 shots to his friend’s house. More information will come later”

The 7 shots were fired at 9:52 PM on Friday, January 7th. Halton Police dispatched almost instantly and arrived at the scene at 10:01 PM. As soon as Nathan saw officers arrive at the scene, he and his friend, which we can not say the name due to parental choice and privacy reasons, ran inside said person’s house and hid until officers found their way in. Officers broke in at 10:05 PM, and instantly found Nathan and his friend hiding in the front closet. They ordered Nathan to drop the weapon and for his friend to put his hands up. As soon as the handgun was dropped Nathan was handcuffed along with his friend and put into the back of a cruiser. They later arrived at HRP 3 District, where they were set up for questioning. After later Police investigation, it was revealed that Nathan had no intent of harming himself or anyone, he just simply wanted it for a “cool” scene in his music video. Even though its not a very serious crime, he was still hit with 2 criminal charges: Unauthorized use of a legal firearm and Vandalism/Destruction of private property. He was let free after paying over $20,000 worth of fines, and got let off with a 2-year installment to his permanent record.

After everything was settled, reporters questioned ex Toronto street gang members about slang used in the short clip that was recorded to determine if he was really telling the truth about his intentions. In the short video that showcased him firing 7 shots to his friends house, he said a sentence of gang slang saying: “the **** you say bout notti? im gonna pull up to opp block and **** gon get litty!”. According to gang slang experts, Notti, short for “Notti Osama”, was a 14-year-old rapper from The Bronx, New York, that was stabbed and killed in a metro station. Apparently he was very disrespected in the drill rap scene, and Nathan was one of the only people who admired him and stood up for when people would talk negatively on him. Another slang word, “Opps”, means enemies or people in rival gangs. There was not enough evidence to prove if Nathan was telling the truth or not, but after a long discussion, officers believe what Nathan had said.

In conclusion, dont do what Nathan did! Teens, Stay safe and be good role models!
