It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely demise of Matt Mercer, notorious dungeon master, voice actor, and prankster, who passed away on February 15, 2023, at the ripe old age of 40. He is survived by his wife Marisha, his dogs Charlie and Ash, and a mob of fans who may or may not be secretly relieved.
Matt was born on January 29, 1983, in a small town in Ohio, where he spent his formative years tormenting his siblings with elaborate pranks and practical jokes. He then decided to take his passion for mischief to the world of tabletop RPGs, where he would spend countless hours plotting convoluted campaigns to bamboozle his friends.
In addition to his successful career as a voice actor, Matt was known for his wickedly evil dungeon master skills, terrorizing his players with deadly traps, unforgiving battles, and gut-wrenching plot twists. His NPC voices were often more terrifying than the monsters themselves, and his talent for improvisation left his players scrambling to come up with a plan B.
Matt will be remembered for his infectious cackle, his twisted creativity, and his unwavering commitment to causing chaos. His legacy will live on through the many traumatized players he left in his wake, the characters he mercilessly slaughtered, and the countless lives he scarred with his cruelty and mischief.
In lieu of condolences, we ask that you raise a glass of ale in Matt’s honor and try to forgive him for that one time he made you roll a d100 on a random table of doom. Rest in pieces, Matt. We’ll miss your twisted sense of humor…sort of.
