The Federal Bureau of Prisons announced today that many Special Investigative Services Departments nationwide will now be under an OIA review. This comes months after multiple staff at a Federal Prison located in Dublin, CA have either been indicted and/or received prisons terms for inappropriate relations with inmates.
It has been determined that the Special Investigative Department at Dublin assisted in covering up allegations by inmates and destroying evidence. The Bureau of Prisons conducted an audit of complaints and referrals and Prisons such as FCC Victorville and Lompoc have been identified as “Problem Prisons.”
The Federal Bureau of Prisons plans to host an committee for former inmates at both institutions in order to gather more information.
