Bandimere Speedway Closes Suddenly

Morrison’s Bandimere Speedway, which opened in 1958 and hosts the NHRA Dodge//SRT Mile-High Nationals, suddenly and permanently closed Saturday morning.

John Bandimere Jr., the track’s president, said in a statement to the media: “It has finally come time that Bandimere close and wrap up its 65-year run. This was a difficult decision fueled by a dramatic loss of revenue, and we regret the track coming to a close in this way. We deeply apologize to our beloved track family, employees, and all who come to Bandimere for time with dragsters, community, and God.”

Bandimere Speedway is the only NHRA sanctioned track with a downhill staging area, and uphill shut down strip. While it is unclear where this year’s Dodge//SRT Mile-High Nationals will be held, the NHRA did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Bandimere Speedway was only two weeks away from the first event of its 2023 season when the announcement was made. This is a developing story: Channel33 News will update it as we learn more.
