Breaking Hoosier Hearts: Study Finds Indiana College Boys More Likely to Give Their Girlfriends S’mores than Smooches

A recent study conducted by the Institute of Relationship Psychology found that Indiana college boys are more likely to give their girlfriends s’mores than smooches. The study, which surveyed over 500 college students in Indiana, found that 85% of female respondents reported that their Indiana college boyfriends were more interested in roasting marshmallows than romance.

“At first, we thought it might just be a fluke,” says lead researcher, Dr. Jessica Nguyen. “But the data was pretty clear: Indiana college boys are just not that into PDA.”

So why are Indiana college boys so averse to public displays of affection? According to the study, it all comes down to their love of the great outdoors.

“Indiana is a state that’s known for its beautiful natural scenery and camping opportunities,” explains Dr. Nguyen. “And it seems like Indiana college boys are more interested in sharing a s’more around a campfire than kissing their girlfriends in public.”

While this might sound like a harmless quirk, many Indiana college girls are feeling the burn. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love s’mores as much as the next person,” says college student, Emily Kim. “But sometimes I just want my boyfriend to show me a little affection, you know?”

But some Indiana college boys argue that they’re not bad boyfriends – they just have different priorities. “Look, I love my girlfriend, but I also love spending time in nature,” says college student, Adam Lee. “Is it really so wrong to want to do both?”

Regardless of whether you’re Team S’mores or Team Smooches, it’s clear that Indiana college boys have a unique approach to romance. And who knows, maybe the next time you’re cuddled up around a campfire with your Indiana college boyfriend, you’ll realize that a s’more is just as sweet as a kiss.
