PepsiCo voluntarily recalled 33,000 bottles of its Diet Pepsi after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found sub-trace amounts of flesh-eating bacteria, known as necrotizing fasciitis, in a sample it had tested.
All recalled bottles were from a single lot, #22318RB. The lot had been shipped around the United States in 2022.
The FDA on Oct. 18, 2022, advised consumers to immediately stop consuming the beverage from the tainted lot.
As of now, the FDA concludes the ban of Diet Pepsi within the U.S. regions.
