English singer-songwriter Harry Styles, who is set to begin the European leg of “Love on Tour” next month, announced his retirement from music Saturday morning in a heartfelt letter to fans.
“I have loved every moment of my career and wouldn’t trade these experiences for the world,” Styles said in a letter released by his public relations team, “But I have to take care of myself and my mental health. I’ve simply fallen out of love with the industry.”
Styles began his music career when he joined “The X Factor” in 2010 as a solo contestant but was shortly mentored with a group of other contestants by Simon Cowell. The group soon became One Direction, and the band has since sold 70 million records worldwide. One Direction took an indefinite hiatus in 2016, at which time it was unclear if they would ever reunite.
