Author Suzanne Collins is to pen another prequel to the original Hunger Games trilogy, publisher Scholastic has confirmed.
The untitled installment, set to be published on May 3, 2024, will revisit the world of Panem, 25 years before the events of the original books.
Collins confirmed the novel will focus on the events of the second Quarter Quell, where the fan favorite character Haymitch Abernathy emerged as the victor.
Scholastic said it was “absolutely thrilled” at the prospect of introducing devoted fans to “an entirely new perspective on the character of Haymitch and his experience in the 50th Hunger Games”.
Collins set the original trilogy in a post-apocalyptic dystopia where young people must fight and kill each other, on live television. The books have sold more than 100 million copies and have been translated into more than 50 languages.
