Governor Mike Dewine sent shockwaves across the state of Ohio during a press conference on Saturday to address the rising COVID-19 numbers.
“Another shutdown is not what the citizens of Ohio want. However, we have to be willing to make sacrifices to keep our loved ones safe.” Dewine stated. The conference was held in light of a rising number of cases of the XBB.1.16 variant. The Department of Health reported on Tuesday a 50% rise in cases from this time last year.
“The numbers are definitely concerning, and something we are keeping a close eye on.” stated Dr. Bruce Vanderbilt, director of the Department of Health.
“We need to keep our friends safe. We need to keep our family safe. And we will do what we must to ensure that they live to see another day.”
