LOS ANGELES — Abel Makkonen Tesfaye was born on February 16, 1990, in Toronto, Ontario. He is the only child of Ethiopian immigrants Makkonen Tesfaye and Samrawit Hailu. Abel – also known as The Weeknd has passed just this morning at the age of 33 as paramedics confirmed the time of his death at 8:47 am this morning in his Hidden Hills home in Los Angeles, California. The Canadian pop star was found unconscious in his bed.
The Weeknd , whose legal name was Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, was found dead at his home March 31 2023.
Abel died from “mixed drug toxicity” that included cocaine, fentanyl and alcohol, the Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s office has said.
