A UC Berkeley student and popular TikTok influencer has been caught in the middle of a drug smuggling scheme. The student, whose identity has not been released, went on a fully-expensed trip to Mexico with friends over the weekend of March 17-19.
According to sources, the student and their friends were offered a lucrative deal to transport a large quantity of drugs across the border into the United States. The student, who has a substantial social media following, was enticed by the promise of a significant payout and agreed to participate in the scheme.
However, their plans quickly fell apart when they were stopped and searched by authorities at the border. The drugs, which were concealed in the group’s luggage, were discovered, and the student and their friends were taken into custody.
The student’s social media accounts, which boasted a large following, have been deactivated since news of their arrest broke. UC Berkeley officials have also released a statement condemning the student’s actions and emphasizing the importance of upholding the university’s values.
“We are deeply disappointed to learn of the allegations against one of our students,” the statement read. “We do not condone or tolerate any illegal activity, and we expect all members of our community to uphold our values of integrity and responsibility.”
The student and their friends are currently facing serious charges related to drug trafficking, and the case is under investigation by law enforcement officials. This incident serves as a cautionary tale for anyone tempted to participate in illegal activities, especially those with a public profile and a large following
