FC Copenhagen, one of Denmark’s premier football clubs, has been sold to a new American ownership group Red Bird Capital , it was announced today.
The deal, which was reportedly worth over €100 million, was finalized after months of negotiations between the previous owners, Parken Sport & Entertainment, and the new group, which is led by a consortium of Danish and international investors.
“We are thrilled to announce that FC Copenhagen is now under new ownership,” said the club’s CEO, Lars Bo Jeppesen. “This is an exciting time for our organization and our fans, and we believe that this new partnership will bring great success both on and off the field.”
Under the terms of the deal, the new ownership group will take over all aspects of the club’s operations, including its professional team, youth academy, and marketing and branding efforts. The previous owners will retain ownership of the stadium and surrounding facilities.
The new owners have already stated their commitment to building on FC Copenhagen’s success, both domestically and in international competition. The club has won 13 Danish Superliga titles and has been a regular participant in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.
“We see FC Copenhagen as a club with enormous potential, and we are eager to help it reach new heights,” said one of the investors, who wished to remain anonymous. “We have ambitious plans for the future, and we believe that with the right investments and management, FC Copenhagen can become a powerhouse in European football.”
