Taylor Swift’s next rerelease is coming sooner than her fans previously believed. The singer is known for putting Easter eggs in her music videos, and with the release of “I Can See You”, a Taylor’s Version track from the Vault (AKA a previously unreleased song from Speak Now, her third studio album) fans began to speculate that she would be releasing ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ in 2023. Taylor announced this on twitter on July 9, in a tweet that reads:
“OMG, I can’t believe it’s already time! 1989 (my version) will be available to stream everywhere on August 13, 2023. I’m so excited to share 1989 and 5 extra vault songs with you (again)!”
After her label, Big Machine Records was sold (along with Taylor’s masters) to Scooter Braun, igniting a Swiftie v. Braun feud still raging on to this day. Taylor’s version of 1989 will be her fourth rerecording, directly following Speak Now. Preorders for CD, cassette and vinyl (pictured) are for sale on her website.
