One of most common occurrences of the last 2 months in NE Minneapolis is the abundance of pallet thieves. While some people would consider this a misdemeanor and shouldn’t attract this level of attention. Especially with the rise of carjacking’s. However this minor offense can have a large effect with the right circumstances. Because the pallet industry has halted their production the demand for pallets has increased drastically, hence why there are large amounts of pallet steals. Some people have even begun making their own pallets to sell to their local warehouses and Post Offices. With the recent amount of pallet thieving and due to the sate the pallet industry is in, a new law is being put into effect on Sep 11th to slow the rate of the thefts. This law can confine any citizen to up to 2 years of prison time for first hand theft and a fine of up to $500.
