Just two hours ago, a local second-level student was killed in a car collision in the area of Bishopstown. His mother, Dorota Gandzel, is in mourning as an upcoming trip to Poland has been cancelled.

The horrific crash, which left the boy dead at the scene, occurred on Bishopstown Road near Costa Coffee, GardaĆ said.
The boy whose mother, Dorota, and father, John, were planning a trip to their native Poland, was a second-year student attending Colaiste an Spiraoid Naoimh in the town, and a past pupil at the local Scoil and Spiraoid Naoimh.
Brenda Mortiarty, principal of Colaiste an Spiraoidh Naoimh, said the boy started secondary school last year and that he was popular amgonst pupils and teachers.
“Daniel is sadly missed, his lots of friends in the school are upset this morning after hearing the tragic news, and the family are in Cork for many many years and are very much part of the community,” said Moriarty.
