Did you know that the Oklahoma City Thunder have won a NBA Championship?
In 1945, a year before the NBA at least what most people think the NBA was a team with 14 teams before 1946 that is not well known, but the Oklahoma City Thunder was in the NBA for that one year in 1945 then they ran out of money and sold the team.
The 1945 Season
In the 1945 season the Thunder were the 4 seed the lowest seed at the time there were 8 teams in the playoffs in told they played the Boston Celtics first at these time they were in the Eastern Conference.
Game 1
Game 1 vs Boston was the hardest game it was tie with 30 seconds to go and the Celtics had the ball they brought the ball down the court and wasted 24 seconds before driving in for a layup where he misses but got fouled he drained the first free throw but he missed the second the Thunder bring the ball up the court the crowd shouts 3, 2, 1 the ball came out of his hands 30 feet from the basket people in the stands said it felt like the ball stayed in the air for what felt like a century but when they heard the swish the stadium
Erupted with cheers but also boo’s because it was played at Boston. Thunder won 80-79 to take game one.
The Boring Games
The rest of the games were pretty boring blowouts in ever game. Game 2 Boston won 78-69, Game 3 Thunder Won 90-70, Game 4 all Thunder had to do is win this game and they would be in the conference finals and that is what they did.They won 89-56 and now the Thunder were playing the Philadelphia Warriors to have a chance to make the finals.
6 Boring games For the amazing Game 7
The Next 6 games were blowouts and to beat records for their time. Game 1 Warriors Won 87-40 at this point people thought the Thunder was done for but little did they know their best player would show off his amazing talent. Game 2 Warriors won 87-80, Game 3 Thunder won 105-32 this game broke loads of records for it’s time like most points in a game where Sha clipper scored 67 points in a game which is impressive for even today Sha and others broke 5 more records including Assist record, rebounding record, Blocking record, Most minutes played in a game with 50 this is possible because the time was 30 seconds longer for each quarter, and Most points off assists. game 4 Warriors won 90-80, game 5 Thunder won 67-30, game 6 Thunder won 100-50, and now for game 7.
The Amazing game 7
The game was back-and-forth they traded leads too many times to count The Warriors and the Thunder Scored ever possession at one point they had a 113-113 Run that was still adding up.
When there was about a minute left it was 150-151 and Sha had 102 points and both teams still had no Lost possession and the run was now 150-151.
With about 30 seconds left it was 156-156 the Warriors had the ball going down the court they wasted no time and shot it from 25 feet out and the ball went straight in now there is 21 seconds left Thunder go down the court they waste 10 seconds before Sha clipper drove into the paint took a step back and drained it now it was 158-158. Boston have the ball and are run down the court the crowd shout 5, 4, 3 the ball was stolen the crowd Gast then counted 2, 1 the shot was off from 20 feet out the faint of The Thunder was in Sha Clippers hand because the Warriors were 5-0 in OT and The Thunder were 0-10 in OT but everyone held there breaths someone almost passed out but then “ swish” the crowd goes wild a buzzer beater and the team shouts Finals
, Finals, Finals, but a minute later they found out they were playing against the San Jose Rockets the best team ever that went 63-0 and had not lost in the playoffs.
THE FINALS
The first game of the finals did not go good the Rockets won 140- 37 The Rockets were on top of the world everyone thought they were going to win but Sha… but Sha… you will see.
The next game, game 2 the Rockets won 87-70, game 3 was no different the Rockets won 100-20 but this is where Sha woke up it took being down 3-0 in the Finals… Game 4 109-90 Sha with a quadruple-double with 70 points Sha isn’t the best at defense normally but today he had 21 blocks, 12 steals, and 30 Defensive Rebounds and 9 Assists almost 5.
Game 5 Thunder won 100- 78, game 6 Thunder won 80-76. But no one would expect
What would happen next game 7 was come down to the wire the Thunder was down by 30 starting the 4th and now it is 100-103 with 30 seconds left and Thunders ball Sha has the ball and runs down the court he waste no time take 5 seconds off the clock then going for a layup and makes it take 6 seconds off in total, With the Rockets with the ball going down the court they took as much time as needed but with 5 seconds left when they were about to foul the the Thunder leaves a wide open layup so he takes it and a Thunder player comes out of nowhere and blocks it right into Sha Clippers Hands the fans shout 3, 2, 1 Sha shot it from full court know one was looking they were to scared too the ball sailed in a perfect path but looked like it was going to miss Sha put his head down and started to walk out when he heard a swish and the crowd erupted people piled onto the court and people screamed you made it Sha was in shock and then everyone started to celebrate. After the celebration they had the award ceremony where Sha was Finals MVP and The Oklahoma City Thunder won a NBA championship. This story is something the NBA doesn’t want you to know because the Thunder could not pay the money to stay in the league and we’re in 39 million dollars in debt.
