The International Court of Justice(ICJ) has banned the Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) from the year 2023 onwards citing the harmful impacts its preparation has on the mental health of students. A case had been filed against the National Testing Agency(NTA) of India in 2015 by various human rights organisations, most notably, Amnesty International. The news comes as a shock to the nation as it is the premier examination for admission into various colleges in the country for engineering programmes.It will remain to be seen what the government of India will do following this breakthrough.
